We started the drive on Saturday morning and after a brief stop at the water park in Reno and lunch, we drove to Elko. We camped in Lamoille canyon above Elko which is a really beautiful spot, and allowed us to escape the heat... on Sunday we drove to Ketchum and had dinner at the Sawbooth brewery before camping a little further north.
On Monday we drove the remaining 1 hour north, and got settled into our campsite. The kids loved playing on the beach and in the water! They rode bikes on the trail around the lake afterwards, and we had dinner at the lodge. Megan, Isaiah and Sydney/Piper/Ryder showed up on Tuesday afternoon, together with their new puppy - Scout! Bodie and Zoe loved playing games, riding bikes, and getting entertained by the older kids :)
Apart from swimming and SUPing, we went mountain biking on Thursday - I rented a hardtail bike and we did the "Fisher Creek Loop" trail which is one of the most popular trails in the area. Pretty crazy to see the wildfire damage (and it was 15? years ago), but it's still beautiful! It was a really hot day (hit 90 degrees) but it made jumping in the lake that much more special after riding. Sydney and Ryder crushed it, managing the fairly brutal uphill with little complaining (less than the adults, anyway).
On Friday we checked out the hot springs on the Salmon river, and started the drive home (through Boise and stopping for dinner in Jordan Valley, OR). We got home on Saturday, and had some time to unpack and unwind before I went back to work!
