Serenity Crack & Peruvian Flake
5.10a, 5.10a/b, 5.10d, 5.10a
June 1, 2008
Rich, Peter
Me and Rich showed up early but there was a bear at the base of the climb.
:) It was very weird to see how domesticated bears in Yosemite are... quite
sad how he wasn't afraid of us and seemed so used to people (this is my
second time seeing one in the valley).
The first pitch of Serenity is the craziest pin scar fest ever, it's
unbelievable (see pictures below). Rich showed a cool head as he did the
first 30 ft to the bolt without any gear... not that hard, but scary! I led
the second pitch which was pretty nice and sustained. Afterwards Rich
finished the climb, and boy was the 5.10d section hard! We both struggled
and unfortunately had a fair bit of pressure w/ a line of parties behind
us. We pushed ourselves enough so we decided to rap...
Afterwards we did Peruvian Flake (5.10a) at the base, which was also pretty
nice. Then we had pizza for lunch and leisurely drove back...
